LISTEN At office, Mr. Katoo is asking Mr. Brown about his home.
Katoo:Uchi wa doko desu ka?
Brown:Hiroo desu.
Katoo:Hiroo no donohen desu ka?
Brown:Eki no chikaku desu.
Katoo:Eki kara donogurai desu ka?
Brown:Eki kara 5-fun (go-fun) gurai desu.
Katoo:Where is your home?
Brown:In Hiroo.
Katoo:Which part of Hiroo?
Brown:Near the station.
Katoo:How far is it from the station?
Brown:About 5 minutes.
doko desu ka? Where is it?
When asking or telling about a place, you can use the following expressions, which can be used for both things and persons. doko means "where" and doko desu ka? means "Where is it?." The subject, uchi wa is omitted afterwards from the second sentence above.
donohen which part, around where & chikaku near
donohen means "which part." Tokyo no donohen desu ka? means "Which part of Tokyo?"

donogurai How long" or "How far"
You can use kara "from" and made "until" for asking the distance or the length of time.
The interrogative, "how long" or "how far", is donogurai / donokurai.

ABC Hotel is near the airport.

The bank is in front of the station.

Ten'in:Mukoo desu.
Kanda:Excuse me, where are the rest rooms?
Clerk:Over there.
LISTEN 2.Katoo:Kuruma no kagi wa doko desu ka?
Satoo:Tsukue no ue desu.
Katoo:Where is the key of my car?
Satoo:It's on the desk.
LISTEN 3.Ishida:Suimasen. Eki wa doko desu ka?
Josei:Ano biru no tonari desu.
Ishida:Dono biru desu ka?
Josei:Ano ookii biru desu.
Ishida:Excuse me, where is the station?
Woman:It's next to that building.
Ishida:Which building?
Woman:That big building.
